Insider Tips for a Fabulous Marrakech Wedding
Planning a wedding in Marrakech from abroad can feel overwhelming. As a local wedding planner, I've gathered my best insider tips to help you navigate the process and create the celebration of your dreams.
Choose the Right Season
The best months for a Marrakech wedding are April, May, September, and October. The weather is warm but not too hot, with clear skies. Avoid July and August when temperatures can exceed 45°C, and December-January when evenings can be cool.
Embrace Moroccan Traditions
Incorporating local traditions adds magic to your celebration. Consider a henna night before the wedding, traditional mint tea during the cocktail hour, or Moroccan lanterns and zellige tiles in your décor.
Book Early
Marrakech's best venues book up 12-18 months in advance, especially for peak season (April-May and September-October). Start your venue search as early as possible to secure your first-choice location.
Consider Your Guests
Many of your guests may never have visited Morocco. Provide a detailed welcome guide with tips on currency, tipping, dress code, and local customs. Consider organizing group activities like a souk tour or hammam experience.
Work With Local Vendors
Marrakech has an incredible pool of talented local vendors — florists, photographers, caterers, and musicians who understand the city's unique atmosphere. Working with locals not only supports the community but often results in better quality and lower costs than flying in vendors from abroad.
