We get asked this question more than any other. "When should we get married in Marrakech?" Our quick answer is October. Our real answer is: it depends on what matters most to you.

The best month for your wedding in Marrakech depends on your tolerance for heat, your budget flexibility, the flowers you want, and how important golden-hour light is to your photographer. We've planned weddings in every single month of the year here. Some months make our job easy. Others require creative problem-solving and backup plans.

Here's what each month actually looks and feels like, with the specific details you need to make your decision.

Winter in Marrakech: December, January, February

Winter in Marrakech is mild compared to Europe. You won't see snow in the city (though the Atlas Mountains behind the skyline are snow-capped and spectacular). But evenings get cold, rain is possible, and daylight hours are shorter.

December

December is quiet in Marrakech. Venues are available, vendors have open calendars, and prices drop significantly. A venue that charges €15,000 in October might offer €9,000 to €11,000 in December.

The challenge is temperature. Evenings drop to 8 to 10°C, and most beautiful outdoor venues don't have heating infrastructure. You'll need patio heaters (budget €1,500 to €3,000 to rent enough for a 100-person dinner), blanket wraps for guests, and a plan B indoor space if rain appears.

The light in December is moody and gorgeous. Low sun creates long shadows and warm tones. Photographers love it. But you lose the light early, so outdoor ceremonies need to start by 3:00 PM at the latest if you want natural light.

Flowers available: Ranunculus, anemones, roses (limited varieties), eucalyptus, olive branches. Peonies start appearing in late December but are unreliable.

Best for: Budget-conscious couples who love cozy winter atmospheres and intimate gatherings.

January

January is the coldest month. We've had weddings where guests were shivering during the outdoor cocktail hour despite heat lamps. The Atlas Mountains are stunning with fresh snow, which makes for incredible photo backdrops if you arrange a day-after shoot in the Ourika Valley.

Venue prices hit their annual low. This is the cheapest month to get married in Marrakech. But the savings on the venue may be offset by the cost of heating, weather contingency plans, and the risk of rain disrupting your outdoor setup.

Flowers available: Same as December, plus narcissus and early tulips. Ranunculus are at their peak.

Best for: Couples on a strict budget who are comfortable with a mostly indoor wedding and cozy, intimate aesthetics.

February

February starts the slow climb toward spring. Temperatures are slightly warmer than January, and the almond trees begin to blossom across the countryside. The pink and white blossoms against the red earth are stunning.

Late February feels like early spring on good days. Afternoons can reach 22°C, making outdoor ceremonies comfortable if timed between 2:00 and 4:00 PM. Evenings still need heating.

Flowers available: Early peonies (imported), ranunculus at peak, anemones, stock flowers, wax flowers. The selection expands.

Spring in Marrakech: March, April, May

Spring is when Marrakech comes into its own. The gardens fill out, the light turns soft and golden, and temperatures sit right in the zone for outdoor celebrations. This is high season for a reason.

March

Temperature: 10 to 23°C (50 to 73°F) Rainfall: 30 to 40mm (5 to 6 rainy days) Sunset: Around 6:40 PM Daylight hours: About 12 hours

March is transitional. Some days feel like summer, others feel like winter. The unpredictability is the issue. We've had March weddings with perfect 25°C sunshine and March weddings with downpours that flooded a garden venue.

Prices start climbing but aren't at peak levels yet. Venue availability is good. Vendors are fresh from the quiet winter months and eager to impress.

Ramadan often falls in March (check the dates for your specific year). This is the single biggest variable for March weddings. A March wedding during Ramadan requires significant adjustments to vendor schedules, alcohol service, and overall pacing.

Flowers available: Roses start returning in force, peonies become more reliable, ranunculus still available, sweet peas appear. The flower market in Marrakech starts filling up with incredible variety.

Best for: Flexible couples who can handle weather unpredictability and want shoulder-season pricing with improving conditions.

April

Temperature: 13 to 26°C (55 to 79°F) Rainfall: 20 to 30mm (3 to 4 rainy days) Sunset: Around 7:10 PM Daylight hours: About 13 hours

April is beautiful. The gardens are at their peak, bougainvillea is blooming in every shade of pink and purple, jasmine fills the air in the evenings, and temperatures are warm without being oppressive.

This is when the best month debate gets interesting. April offers everything: comfortable temperatures, long golden evenings, abundant flowers, and fewer fully booked weekends than October. Rain is still possible but becoming less frequent.

Prices are moderate to high. Not peak, but not a bargain. Expect to pay 70 to 85 percent of October rates at top venues.

Flowers available: Peonies (at their gorgeous, full-bloom best), garden roses in dozens of varieties, sweet peas, jasmine, ranunculus (late season), stock. This is the best month for flowers in Marrakech.

Best for: Couples who prioritize spectacular flowers, comfortable weather, and golden evening light. Our favorite month for weddings.

May

Temperature: 16 to 30°C (61 to 86°F) Rainfall: 5 to 10mm (1 to 2 rainy days) Sunset: Around 7:35 PM Daylight hours: About 14 hours

May is the last month of comfortable outdoor wedding weather before summer heat takes over. Early May is ideal, with warm days, minimal rain, and long evenings. Late May starts pushing into hot territory, with afternoon temperatures above 32°C.

This is peak wedding season. Venues book up fast for May weekends. Prices are at or near their annual high. The competition for top vendors intensifies.

The light in May is extraordinary. Sunsets are long, slow, and golden. Those iconic Marrakech photos with warm light washing over terracotta walls? They're shot in April and May.

Flowers available: Late peonies (grab them while they last), roses at absolute peak, jasmine everywhere, bougainvillea in full explosion. Hydrangeas start appearing.

Best for: Couples who want guaranteed sunshine, long summer evenings, and are willing to pay peak prices. Book 15+ months ahead.

Summer in Marrakech: June, July, August

We'll be direct. Summer is the hardest time to plan a wedding in Marrakech. The heat is intense, unrelenting, and poses real logistical challenges. But summer weddings can be magical if you plan around the heat.

June

Temperature: 20 to 36°C (68 to 97°F) Rainfall: Essentially none Sunset: Around 7:50 PM Daylight hours: About 15 hours

June is the bridge month. Early June is manageable. Late June gets hot. The key is scheduling: nothing outdoors between noon and 5:00 PM. Ceremony at 6:30 PM, cocktails at 7:00 PM, dinner at 9:00 PM. Mornings for getting ready, midday for pool lounging in air-conditioned comfort.

Prices drop from the spring peak but aren't as low as winter. Consider June a shoulder month with real savings, especially for the first two weeks.

Flowers available: Roses (heat-tolerant varieties), hydrangeas, bougainvillea, dried flowers and grasses start becoming popular choices as fresh options diminish.

Best for: Couples who love long, warm evenings and late dinners. Ideal for couples from hot climates who are comfortable with high temperatures.

July

Temperature: 22 to 40°C (72 to 104°F) Rainfall: None Sunset: Around 7:45 PM Daylight hours: About 14.5 hours

July is hot. Really hot. We've seen thermometers in garden venues hit 45°C at 3:00 PM. Your wedding cake needs to be in a refrigerated space until the last possible moment. Makeup melts. Suits are miserable.

Prices hit their annual low along with August. A venue charging €15,000 in October might offer €7,000 to €8,000 in July. The savings are significant. But so are the additional costs: industrial fans, misting systems, ice deliveries, extra refrigeration for food, and air-conditioned backup spaces.

Flowers available: Very limited. Roses, dried flowers, greenery. Anything delicate wilts within hours in the heat. Your florist will need to keep arrangements in cold storage until setup.

Best for: Strictly budget-conscious couples who can commit to an entirely evening/nighttime celebration. We recommend this only with specific planning adjustments.

August

Temperature: 22 to 40°C (72 to 104°F) Rainfall: 5mm (occasional freak thunderstorm) Sunset: Around 7:25 PM Daylight hours: About 13.5 hours

August is similar to July in terms of heat. The one difference is that Marrakech gets slightly more locals on holiday, and some vendors take their own vacation during the first two weeks. Confirm vendor availability early.

Late August sees temperatures start to ease slightly, but "slightly" means 37°C instead of 42°C. Still hot.

Flowers available: Same as July. Limited.

Best for: Same as July. Only recommended with full heat mitigation planning.

Autumn in Marrakech: September, October, November

Autumn is the high point of the Marrakech wedding calendar. This is when the city is at its best.

September

September is a transition month, like March in reverse. Early September still carries summer heat. Late September feels like the start of something new. The air shifts, the evenings turn pleasant, and the city settles down after the long summer.

Prices begin climbing from the summer low. Mid-September is a sweet spot for couples who want warm weather without October competition. Venue availability is still decent.

Flowers available: Roses return in quality, dahlias begin their season, early hydrangeas. The flower market starts stocking up for the busy autumn wedding season.

Best for: Couples who want autumn warmth with slightly better availability and pricing than October.

October

Temperature: 15 to 28°C (59 to 82°F) Rainfall: 15 to 20mm (2 to 3 rainy days) Sunset: Around 6:15 PM Daylight hours: About 11.5 hours

October is the best month for a wedding in Marrakech. We'll say it clearly. The temperatures are perfect, daytime warm and evenings refreshing. Rain is minimal. The light is spectacular, warm and soft with a golden quality that makes everything look like a film.

Every planner in Marrakech will tell you the same thing. October weekends are the most competitive dates of the year. Top venues book 12 to 18 months in advance for October Fridays and Saturdays. Prices are at their peak.

Is it worth the premium? For most couples, yes. The weather reliability alone justifies the investment. You can plan a full outdoor wedding with confidence. Guests are comfortable in cocktail attire without sweating through it. Your photographer has golden hour light for hours.

Flowers available: Dahlias at peak, roses in abundance, chrysanthemums, amaranth, cosmos. Autumn foliage starts appearing. The palette shifts to warm tones, burgundies, burnt oranges, deep reds, which pair beautifully with Marrakech's terracotta walls.

Best for: Everyone. October is the default recommendation for a reason. If you can secure your venue, this is the month.

November

Temperature: 11 to 24°C (52 to 75°F) Rainfall: 25 to 35mm (3 to 5 rainy days) Sunset: Around 5:35 PM Daylight hours: About 10.5 hours

November splits into two distinct halves. Early November feels like late October: warm, golden, comfortable. Late November slides toward winter: cooler evenings, earlier sunsets, and increasing rain probability.

First two weeks of November are excellent value. You get near-October weather at 70 to 80 percent of October pricing. After mid-November, conditions and prices both drop.

Flowers available: Late dahlias, roses, chrysanthemums, ranunculus begin returning. Olive branches and eucalyptus for green, earthy arrangements.

Best for: Smart couples who want October-like conditions at better prices. Target the first two weeks.

Religious Holidays That Affect Planning

Beyond weather, the Islamic calendar significantly impacts your Marrakech wedding planning timeline.

Ramadan lasts about 30 days and shifts approximately 10 days earlier each year. During Ramadan, expect reduced working hours, limited alcohol service, and altered energy levels from fasting staff. Some venues refuse to host events with alcohol during the holy month.

Eid al-Fitr (the celebration marking the end of Ramadan) is a 2 to 3 day holiday. Vendors are off, shops are closed, and the city celebrates. Beautiful to witness, but not ideal for a wedding.

Eid al-Adha (Festival of Sacrifice) is the most important religious holiday. Many vendors take an entire week off to be with family. Do not plan a wedding during Eid al-Adha week.

Check projected dates for these observances when selecting your month. Your planner should flag any conflicts immediately.

The "no compromises" couple: October. Book 18 months ahead. Pay the premium. You won't regret it.

The flower-obsessed couple: April. Peony season. The gardens are at their most lush. Light is beautiful.

The budget-smart couple: Early November or late February. Near-ideal conditions at significantly reduced prices.

The adventurous couple: Late September. Warm, uncrowded, and you'll feel like you discovered a secret season.

The intimate winter wedding couple: December. Cozy, romantic, affordable. Lean into the winter mood with candlelight, wool throws, and intimate indoor spaces.
